
Is Our Place a halfway house?
Our Place is NOT a halfway house. We are a transitional living program focusing on healing the mind, body and spirit; a holistic approach. We are the missing link between clinical treatment and integration back into real life. This is the most crucial period to recover from addiction.
How long is your program?
Our program is 90 days … think of it as a season. It takes a season to promote change and growth.
How much does your program cost?

What if I am from out of town?
Our residents come from all over the country. When you reach the life changing decision and make Our Place, your place, we will coordinate your air travel and ground transportation. Our staff will be there to greet you at the airport. We will accommodate clients who require an escort during their travel. Our priority is to make your journey comfortable.
What if I need detox?
Many of our incoming clients require detox. We work with reputable facilities in the area. We will help you choose the one that best fits your personal and financial needs, including verification of insurance benefits. Our residents will detox in a safe, effective and medically monitored facility.
What if I am on medication?
Please bring the necessary prescription drugs in the original prescription bottle ONLY. All items you bring are inspected for controlled substances.
Is there staff on property at all times?
Yes, there is close supervision around the clock.
Do you drug/alcohol test?
Yes, we test our residents daily using urine drug screens and breathalyzers. Drug tests are administered randomly as residents progress through the program.
What if I fail a drug test?
The client is placed in detox immediately, at their expense, then returned to Our Place. We invite those who choose to leave detox or our program, to return to Our Place within the year of their admission date to complete their program. This is at no additional cost.
What does a typical day look like?
The day consists of groups, workshops, meditation, individual case management, exercise, recreational activities and daily 12 step meetings.
How far is the beach and how often can I go?
We are a few hundred feet from the award winning ‘Blue Wave’ beach. Our residents are encouraged to visit the beach during free time.
Are you 12 Step based?
We are not a faith-based program, however, we do incorporate spiritual teachings with a strong emphasis on the 12 steps.
How many residents do you have?
We are a 34 bed facility for men and believe in maintaining a small and intimate community. Smaller groups allow us to focus on the individual, providing the resident the attention we believe is necessary for success.
Is Our Place coed?
Our Place is a facility for men only.
How old are most of the residents?
We are an adult only program and promote age diversity. We believe residents of all ages can benefit from one another’s experiences.
What are the living arrangements like?
Our Place is an "Old Florida" hotel with charming efficiency apartments and fully equipped kitchens.
Can I have my own room?
All residents will have a roommate for all or most of their stay with us. Our recovery program fosters a sense of family and community. Isolation can impede recovery and therefore we strongly encourage our residents to interact with one another.
Do you have a pool?
Yes, our residents and their guests are permitted to use the pool every day during free time.
Am I allowed to have guests?
Yes, family members and sober supports are encouraged to visit. All guests must be approved by staff and non-residents are not permitted in living areas. The pool-side area, with tables, lounge chairs and BBQ grills, is available for use by all residents and guests.
Do you provide meals?
All residents receive a weekly grocery card. Each apartment is equipped with a kitchen along with the community’s pool-side BBQ grills. Transportation to and from the grocery store is provided.
Do you have a laundry facility?
Yes, we have coin operated machines for the residents’ convenience.
Can I work?
Yes, after the first six weeks we encourage and assist our residents in securing and maintaining stable employment.
What about transportation?
OUR PLACE is located close to bus routes and within walking distance to shops, businesses and restaurants.
Am I allowed to bring my car?
You are welcome to bring a vehicle. The use of your car will be restricted for the first six weeks.
Can I smoke?
Yes, smoking cigarettes is permitted on property. NO smoking in-doors.
Is there a curfew?
Yes, curfew is 10 P.M. every night including weekends and is strictly enforced.
What about 12 step meetings?
Daily 12 step meetings are held directly across the street. Our residents are required to obtain a sponsor within the first two weeks. In addition, our residents under 30 attend "Young People" meetings. Daily meeting attendance is mandatory.
Do I get to bring my cell phone?
You may bring and use your cell phone.
Can I bring my MP3 player and laptop?
Yes, free Wi-Fi is available throughout the premise.
What recreational activities are available?
Florida has wonderful weather and so much to offer. Swimming, fishing, golfing, biking, surfing, snorkeling, just to name a few. You are free to bring sporting gear.
Can I bring my pet?
Sorry, residents are not allowed to keep pets on premise.
Do I need to bring extra money with me?
It is best to have money put on your account. No more that $50 per week will be distributed along with a food card.
What do I need to bring?
You will need 7-10 days of clothing and toiletries. You may bring personal items
and small electronics. Linens and towels are provided. Less is better!
